    To get the benefits of honey as a natural cough remedy, mix honey with tea or warm water with lemon juice. You can also drink it directly with a dose of two teaspoons before going to bed. However, you should not give honey to children under one year of age. Considering that the immune system of children at this age is still low, it is feared that giving honey can cause  botulism .
